Meet Dr. Adriana: A Doctor for People

Hi, I'm Adriana del Giglio, but you can also call me Fifa. I am a medical doctor, specializing in Internal Medicine and Hematology, and I am excited to begin a fellowship in Integrative Medicine soon. I was born in the United States, raised in Brazil, and now call Israel home—the country my heart has chosen. When people ask me what type of doctor I am, I always say, “I am a doctor for adults; I am a doctor for people.”

My Journey and Inspiration

It’s impossible to talk about my journey to becoming a doctor without mentioning my father. He is a passionate physician, and we share a strong, indescribable bond. I vividly remember my parents telling me that my first words were, “Dad works at the hospital.”

During my childhood, my father was often away from home, leaving early in the morning and returning after I went to sleep. Although, as a child, I did not understand much about the complexities of life—jobs, bills, and responsibilities—I always knew that my father was doing what he loved. His dedication to his work inspired me to pursue a career in medicine.

My passion for medicine is deeply rooted in my love for connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. I enjoy learning about their stories, experiences, and cultures. Science, with all its possibilities and advancements, never ceases to amaze me. It offers us tools and knowledge that can profoundly change lives.

Taking care of people is not just a job—it is the greatest privilege I have ever had. Each interaction is an opportunity to make a difference, to provide comfort, and to help others navigate their health journeys.

My Approach

I am particularly passionate about holistic health, focusing on preventive care and early diagnosis. I believe that taking care of people means being present in their lives, assisting them in preventing diseases from the outset, diagnosing conditions early, and providing treatment when necessary. While not every condition has a cure, everyone deserves the best possible care and support at all stages of their health journey. I am here to provide that support.

When I meet a patient for the first time, it’s common for them to begin with a list of concerns—“My knee hurts,” or “I can’t swallow.” However, I believe that truly effective care starts with understanding the person in front of me. My priority is to get to know them as an individual: Who are they? Where do they come from? What is their mother tongue? Are they married? Do they have children? What do they do for work? Most importantly, what is significant for them?

I believe that each individual's unique background and values inform their health journey and treatment choices. Being part of an integrative health environment enriches this experience, allowing me to collaborate with other talented healthcare professionals to provide a comprehensive approach.

Making a Difference

Throughout my professional journey, I have been honored to receive various titles and awards. One milestone was defending my master’s thesis at the end of medical school.

What truly brings me joy, however, is witnessing the positive impact I’ve had on my patients’ lives. Many patients come to mind—people I’ve had the privilege of helping return to their families', jobs and hobbies.

Perhaps what makes me most proud is that I have inspired fellow doctors to appreciate the world of clinical research and the art of patient care. It fills my heart to see them thrive and make a difference in the lives of their patients. One physician who stands out to me is Beatrice Abdalla. She not only takes exemplary care of my skin but also has carved a remarkable path in research, and I am excited to see where her journey leads.

Beyond the Practice

While being a doctor is a form of artistry in itself, I also find immense joy in creating art in more traditional forms. Whether it's spreading colors on a blank canvas, embroidering intricate designs, knitting, or exploring ceramics, I dedicate time each day to artistic expression. These creative activities have become my sanctuary—a wonderful way to take care of myself and recharge. Art allows me to connect with my emotions. You may see me with something colorful around.

Breast Cancer Awareness Event: Prevention & Information

I am thrilled to announce our first public event, which I am helping to organize on the 29th of October. Recently, I faced a breast cancer diagnosis, an experience that has profoundly influenced my perspective on health and wellness. I feel a strong responsibility—as both a patient and a doctor—to raise awareness in our community about the importance of health screenings and preventive care.

During this event, I will discuss strategies for living healthier lives and ways to prevent future diseases. I am passionate about sharing my insights and experiences to empower others and foster a supportive community environment. Together, we can learn, grow, and inspire each other towards better health and well-being.
